Auto Skating

This is the street in front of our home. Yes, it is covered in ice for the 2nd straight day. The new phrase for navigating ones way down the street is "auto skating."

Farm Buildings

As I travel around the countryside I've started taking pictures of interesting old corn cribs and other out-buildings. No doubt there will be a lot more as time goes on.

Smiley Face?

I've been walking past this house for a month and it finally dawned on me it looked a little like a face.

You Hafta' Live in IL

Many years ago rural dirt roads in Illinois were paved with concrete. To conserve money they most often just did one lane as you see here. These roads became known as "slabs" and for example the road connecting Homer and IL 130 is known as the Sidney slab as it runs through that community. Later on the one-lane slabs were widened and paved over so it is rather unusual to see one in its original state.
