Second FBI Meeting

Ron Pope a retired Poli Sci prof from ISU and founder of the American Home in Vladimir and I met with a group of counter-intelligence special agents in Springfield today to share our views and experiences regarding modern life in Russia. I'm certainly no credible expert but did have some observations to make. Not the least of which was my run in with the immigration services this summer. What surprised one of them was the fact that I was picked up, "interviewed", processed, found guilty of the visa violation, fined and released all in three hours. Just in time to enjoy a wonderful venison dinner and bottle of wine at a new hotel in Vladimir. Such a feat in the US was reported to take months. Russian efficiency?? Ha.

The building shown here is very new (post 9/11) and absolutely beautiful, high tech and high security. Had to pass through typical airport screening + and could not enter with cell phones or even USB drives.

In all, I believe they were interested is what we had to say and I hope they learned a little.
